Works worth 157 million in Sardinian ports, funded by the NRRP
The target has been met, with projects completed using PNRR funds and certified expenditure totalling 157 million. These projects range from new port infrastructure to environmental sustainability and the energy transition. This is the report on the activities of the Port System Authority of the Sardinian Sea as at 30 June. Among the most significant projects, as highlighted by the Port System Authority, is the new Ro-Ro terminal in the western outer harbour of the Port Canal of Cagliari: this is a project with a total value of 338 million, of which over 137 million and 350 thousand, in May, a further 38 million was added to the initial 99 million and 350 thousand, funded by resources from the Complementary Fund to the NRRP and the NRRP-SEZ, which had already been disbursed by the set deadline. Since work began in March 2024, ‘the works schedule has been completed to around 80 per cent, several months ahead of the contractual deadline’. This also includes works worth 10 million for the construction of the access road to the Ro-Ro terminal.
Financial statements as at 30 June
“The achievement of all the targets set for 30 June represents a result of great importance for the entire Sardinian port system,” explains Domenico Bagalà, president of the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia. “The substantial sum of around 157 million spent and accounted for highlights the Port System Authority’s ability to plan, manage and carry out complex projects in full compliance with deadlines, transforming the allocated resources into tangible works, innovation and development.”
A milestone has also been reached at the port of Oristano – Santa Giusta, where work on the project for the multi-purpose service centre for agri-food logistics has recently been completed and tested. The project was funded with over 7.6 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) earmarked for the development of logistics in the agri-food, fisheries and aquaculture, forestry, floriculture and nursery farming. This also includes the implementation of the next phase of the Sardinia Port Community System (SPCS), an advanced digital platform designed to improve the overall efficiency of port operations and to simplify and speed up administrative procedures.
