The decision to return to face-to-face admission tests and the proposal to be able to take them outside Turin and abroad was a winner: pre-registration up 28%.

Once again this year, the trend of data concerning enrolments in the admission tests at the Politecnico di Torino is encouraging: for the courses in Engineering, Architecture, Design and Territorial, Urban and Landscape Planning, there were 15,447 enrolments in the tests, marking an increase of more than 28% compared to last year.
The evidence
.The tests for admission to the 2024/2025 academic year have returned to being conducted exclusively in person, with the sole exception of the Architecture test for international students. The tests began in February and this year also included sessions in Martina Franca, Trapani, Istanbul (Turkey) and Taskent (Uzbekistan), in order to align with foreign universities and to give boys and girls a better chance to make an informed choice. The last scheduled date for the Engineering, Design and Planning courses is Friday 30 August.
Data
The enrolment figures once again attest to the University's positive reputation at the international level. More than 3,500 international students were admitted to the three-year courses, in addition to the more than 1,000 students who gained access to the courses thanks to the recognition of the SAT, ACT, GRE and GMAT international certifications: these are certificates issued by accredited third-party bodies, which attest to the candidate's or applicant's preparation in certain subjects, which are very popular abroad, and are considered equivalent to passing the test.
The Choices
It can be observed, for the engineering area, that study courses delivered in English such as Computer Science, Mechanics, Automotive, Electronic and Communications, and Civil and Environmental Engineering continue to be the primary choice, especially for non-EU students, while Computer Science, Mechanics, Aerospace, Biomedical, Management and Automotive make up 73% of aspiring freshmen; The positive trend of recent years has also been confirmed by Territorial, Urban and Landscape Planning; Design and Communication is stable, while there has been a significant increase in the number of students enrolled in the Architecture test - almost 2,000 with 594 international students - despite the University's decision to deliver it exclusively in person, in contrast with the choice of other Italian universities.
Available places
.Those enrolled in the tests will compete for the 5,037 places available for the Engineering courses, the 80 for the course in Territorial, Urban and Landscape Planning, the 250 for the course in Design and Communication, and the 500 places available for the degree course in Architecture.
"We are encouraged to see how the Politecnico is the winning choice for more and more boys and girls and for their families: it is confirmation of the value of our teaching offer and the attention we pay to recruiting our future students. The decision to return to the provision of admission tests exclusively in person on the one hand, and the adoption of measures such as the recognition of certifications that are also valid abroad on the other, especially in order to move towards an increasingly international dimension, have been a winning choice. A choice which, however, is only effective when the aspiring student finds at the Politecnico an environment in which to experience life, as well as study, and finds in the quality of our training an added value for then accessing the world of work,' comments Vice Rector for Education Fulvio Corno. "We are very pleased with these data," adds Rector Stefano Corgnati, "because they are a testament not only to the attractiveness of our University, but also to our ability to respond to the demands of our educational offerings, through solid and modern teaching, so that our courses of study can open up opportunities for future graduates. The data on the preferences expressed in the pre-enrolment phase are also interesting: interest in our historical and traditional disciplines remains, but interest in other disciplines, which are more oriented towards offering more multidisciplinary and transversal technological perspectives, confirming our vision of a university that is increasingly capable of providing transdisciplinary answers to the complex problems of our time, is growing.
