Ponte Stretto: CGIL lodges a complaint with the Court of Auditors, ‘to assess whether there are grounds for a financial loss to the Exchequer’

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The CGIL trade union today lodged a complaint with the Court of Auditors requesting an investigation into whether public funds were used correctly in the management of the Messina Strait Bridge project or whether, on the contrary, there are grounds to suspect financial loss to the public purse. The trade union reported this in a statement.

“We request – as stated in the application – that consideration be given to any issues of administrativeand accounting liability, as well as any potential financial loss to the public purse arising from serious breaches of European and national legislation on public procurement and environmental protection in connection with CIPESS Resolution No. 41/2025 and the preparatory documents relating to the Messina Strait Bridge project”.

The document was signed by the Secretary-General, Maurizio Landini, and submitted to the regional public prosecutors’ offices of the Court of Auditors of Sicily and Lazio, and to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Judicial Appeals Division of the Court of Auditors for the Region of Sicily.
