Strait Bridge: Technical Director moves to Anas as Chief Operating Officer
From 1 October, Valerio Mele will take up the post of chief technical officer at Anas. The change comes as the bridge project enters the CIPESS preliminary assessment phase

Stretto di Messina emphasises that this is the company’s highest technical position.
Mele leaves Stretto di Messina after three years
Mele has thus joined Anas after three years spent in the technical management of the bridge project. During this period, the company points out, he gained significant experience by closely monitoring the development of the project and the various stages of its progress.
This development comes at a particularly significant time for the project. In fact, the preliminary assessment by CIPESS is due to begin in the coming days – a step which, according to Stretto di Messina, will mark the start of a new phase in the bridge’s development.
However, the company attributes the timing of the change in role and the start of the investigation to a schedule that had already been finalised. The statement specifies that Mele’s new role at ANAS had, in fact, been ‘decided and agreed upon some time ago’.
Technical resources for the Strait Bridge
Stretto di Messina also emphasises that it has already secured the technical resources required for the construction of the bridge, thereby ensuring the continuity of the team responsible for overseeing the project even after Mele’s move to ANAS.
