Donald Trump has raised $75 million less for his presidential candidacy than Joe Biden and has 270,000 fewer unique donors than at the same stage of his run for the White House four years ago. This was revealed by a Financial Times analysis of campaign data in the US.
Trump's campaign and the political action committees affiliated with The Donald, also engaged in four lawsuits in recent months, attracted some 900,000 donors from July 2023 to the first quarter of 2024, compared to the 1.17 million donors registered in the equivalent period of the 2020 race.
The data then showed that incumbent President Biden had a huge fundraising advantage, raising $165 million in the first three months of the year, $75 million more than pro-Trump groups, which raised just under $90 million. Biden had $146 million in hand at the end of March and has raised $368 million this election cycle.
