Professors with suitcases: 59,000 transfers in September
MIM announced the results of the teachers' mobility. 47 thousand posts remain to be filled in September with recruitment
Another 59,000 teachers with suitcases. These are the teachers who will change institute, role or province in the next school year. This is confirmed by the results of the latest mobility procedure communicated by the Ministry of Education and Merit and revised by the unions. In the light of which there remain about 47 thousand vacant and available positions in view of the September recruitments.
Authorised movements
Let us proceed in order. According to the tables published by Cisl Scuola, there are 59,536 total movements authorised by MIM, 44,774 of which are at the request of individual teachers. In most cases (53,644) these are territorial transfers. More in detail, those from one province to another are 10,963.
If confirmed, the pinwheel of teaching positions awaiting schools in 2026/27 will slow down slightly compared to 2025/26, when there were 72,000 accepted transfers, of which 43,000 were on demand.
Turning to an analysis of the individual educational grades, the most significant movement will concern the secondary level. In fact, a total of 22,676 movements are expected in high school, of which 3,553 transfers of tenure or tenure-track. In second place we find primary school with 16,363 accepted transfers (of which 815 tenure-track or tenure-track transfers) followed by lower secondary school. Here 13,597 are expected (including 1,092 transfers). The picture is completed by 6,918 transfers in kindergarten (416 of which for tenure or tenure-track transfers).
The gaps to be filled
The numbers in question have a double significance. In addition to signifying a change of place of employment and, therefore, of life for the 59,000 professors concerned, they serve to quantify the vacant and available posts in view of this summer's tenure.
