Protest over petrol price hikes: Trump's face stickers on fuel pumps
Stickers with Donald Trump's face and the words 'I did it' are all the rage at American petrol stations, a symbol of protest against record fuel prices
Stickers with the face of Donald Trump and the ironic inscription "I did it myself, stuck on fuel pumps in the United States. It is a sort of law of counter-laws for the US president, the protest exploded because of (also) rising fuel prices.
The new price increase is closely linked to the war with Iran, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and the costs of the conflict, putting to rest the White House's proclamations about American self-sufficiency on the oil front. Recently the average price of petrol in the US has come close to $4 a gallon compared to $3.5 not many days earlier. But there are US states where even $5 is reached, as in California, Washington state or Hawaii.
This singular form of protest is not new. It had already exploded at the time of the Biden administration, again because of rising petrol prices. Initiated by a Californian citizen, the protest soon spread nationwide. A bit like what is happening today. Certainly a scenario not foreseen by President Donald Trump when he decided to start the conflict against Iran from which today, according to many analysts, he would not know how to get out. Trump, a few days ago, had declared 'I thought worse' referring to the soaring cost of oil.
Meanwhile, demonstrations against the administration and against Trump in particular are planned throughout the United States: demonstrations organised by the No Kings movement.
