Public finances: Giorgetti says debt has been brought under control, but decisive measures are also needed

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - “Over the past four years, without pursuing an austerity policy, in addition to stabilising the debt and narrowing the spread, we have managed to implement decisive measures: tax cuts for low and middle incomes, and the introduction of a flat tax up to 85,000 euros: we have managed to steer the ship through rough waters, bringing it into safe harbour, whilst at the same time taking the steps that have kept us true to our approach.” This was stated by the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, at the Lega conference “A tua difesa”.

"We would have liked to have done more," the minister concluded, referring to the government’s economic measures, "and we will do more and more."
