'Financial stability is a fundamental prerequisite for growth and national economic security'. So said Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, speaking at the opening conference of the Salone del Risparmio, which kicked off today, Tuesday 5 May, in Milan. For Giorgetti, moreover, 'the fact that our country has gained more solid fundamentals in the macroeconomic framework has allowed us to gain room for action to contain the impact of the changed global context'.
Giorgetti: ready to intervene to protect household incomes
"If conditions require it," the economy minister clarified, "we are ready to intervene to protect the incomes of families and the liquidity of businesses, it would be irresponsible not to do so because the damage would be unfair and unacceptable. I hope that there is sharing on this at European level and the government is working in Brussels in this direction,' he added.
Orsini: "If conflicts come at the end of the year we will go into recession"
Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini also spoke at the Savings Fair. "Companies are currently working in a scenario of great uncertainty," stressed Orsini. "Our research office has drawn up three different scenarios and, among them, if we get through the wars to the end of the year we will go into recession. "As entrepreneurs we must always be confident in the quality of our products and in the enormous resilience of our companies, but if we arrive with oil at $140 at the end of the year it will generate 21 billion more in energy costs for our companies: the cost of energy is one of the main chapters to be resolved," added the president of the employers' association.
