After a stormy start, to say the least, due to the cancellation of the concert by maestro Valery Gergiev, a Russian artist considered to be very close to Putin, the ninth edition of the 'Un'Estate da RE' (A RE Summer) festival, held at the Reggia di Caserta, has now reached its halfway point and has recorded a great turnout. In the evenings since 19 July, the Vanvitellian theatre has hosted at least 1,500 spectators per evening. And a greater turnout is expected on the next two evenings.
On Wednesday, 30 July, dance will be on stage with 'La gioia di danzare' (The Joy of Dancing), a performance conceived and directed by Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko, the Étoile and the Primo Ballerino of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. An exciting journey through the masterpieces of the classical repertoire - from Carmen to Swan Lake, from The Corsair to Grand Pas Classique - enriched with contemporary choreography. Also performing on stage, together with the two protagonists, will be the dancers Claudio Coviello, Vittoria Valerio, Alice Mariani, Gabriele Corrado, Emanuele Cazzato, Martina Valentini and Darius Gramada.
While, on Thursday 31 July, there will be a grand finale with Edoardo Bennato, the 'pirate of rock' and icon of Italian music, who will perform the most famous songs from his repertoire together with new proposals. Both shows will be held in the First Courtyard of the Royal Palace of Caserta, and will start at 9 pm.
Started on 19 July with the inaugural concert dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi - with the participation of the Accademia Barocca di Santa Cecilia, violinist Giovanni Andrea Zanon and actor Toni Servillo - the festival continued with the double date (23 and 25 July) of Giuseppe Verdi's La traviata, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the 'G. Verdi' Theatre of Salerno conducted by Maestro Daniel Oren, with soprano Gilda Fiume, tenor Stefan Pop and baritone Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar.
Programme financed by the Campania Region (Italian Cohesion Funds 21/27), and organised and promoted by Scabec - Società Campana Beni Culturali, in collaboration with the Directorate of the Reggia di Caserta, the Municipality of Caserta and the 'Giuseppe Verdi' Municipal Theatre of Salerno, under the artistic direction of Antonio Marzullo. As in previous editions, Radio Kiss Kiss, partner of "Un'Estate da RE", will broadcast live at the Royal Palace of Caserta on 30 and 31 July from 6 to 9 p.m., with in-depth reports and interviews with the protagonists.
