Trento again, without argument. When it comes to the well-being of the elderly, the province reaffirms its position as the pink jersey, finishing four times out of 12 in the top five of the individual stages: first for life expectancy (22.2 years over 65); second, behind Biella, in the new indicator of civic participation, relating to the over-50s employed by non-profit organisations; third for the lower consumption of drugs against chronic illnesses; fourth for the new 'voice' of users of municipal social services, in which Vicenza comes first.
In the overall ranking Bolzano remains in the top five, but drops from second to fourth position, while two Lombardy regions, Como and Cremona, which were seventh and sixth, climb onto the podium. Como owes its place of honour, among other things, to its supremacy in the ranking of urban gardens, which is based on Istat 2022 data. Cremona, in turn, scores a success, thanks to the high presence of geriatricians in the area.
The Veneto 'team' result was remarkable, with four provinces in the top ten (Treviso fifth, Vicenza sixth, Padua eighth and Verona tenth).
The first representative of the Centre is Macerata, only 24th, preceded by ten positions by the best southern province, which is Foggia, again first for low consumption of antidepressants (at the opposite pole there are still areas of Tuscany and Liguria) and for 'density' of nurses. Another Apulian province, Barletta-Andria-Trani, repeats the success for elderly people living alone (26.6 per cent, while all the provinces belonging to the major northern cities, plus Rome, are over 40 per cent).
