Quality of life for young people, stable work helps the North East. Milan, the rent issue
Gorizia is at the top of the list of territories that guarantee the greatest well-being for the under-35s. In second place is Ravenna, first among the provinces of Emilia-Romagna, which confirms itself among the best for levels of well-being. All the big cities except Bologna (14th place) are doing badly.

Young people and quality of life: Gorizia interrupts Emilia Romagna's series of first places, coming out ahead of Ravenna and Forlì Cesena in Romagna.
The strength of the North-Eastern province comes from the absence of placements at the bottom of the overall ranking and from its presence in the top ten in several indicators: with fifth place in attractiveness to young people and low average age of women at first childbirth, seventh place for frequency of concerts and eighth place for the transition from less 'guaranteed' employment relationships to permanent contracts.
This latter indicator, which has been newly introduced, sees Milan in the lead, just as it does for young new residents. The province of the Lombard capital, with its 45th place, is third among the large metropolitan areas, behind Bologna (14th) and Florence (33rd), even though it is penalised by the incidence of rents on average income (here it is 101st, while Rome is even last, with rents taking 67.9% of wages).
Less burdensome rents, youth entrepreneurship (with Vibo Valentia at the top), younger public administrators than elsewhere are among the 'items' in which the territories of the South come to the fore, which, however, occupy the bottom of the general ranking in the vast majority of cases. Here are a couple of dramatic examples: in Taranto, young university graduates are not even a third of those in Bologna, and in Reggio Calabria, the unemployment rate for those under 34 is nine times higher than in Bolzano.
