Radia seeks subcontractors for WindRunner

Radia, the American company that promoted the production of the world's largest aircraft, WindRunner, is looking for suppliers in Puglia and Campania. To this end, it met in Naples with the companies of the DAC, the Campania Aerospace District. These took part with great interest: more than one hundred representatives of the Campania business sector in fact took part in meetings with Radia Italia CEO Giuseppe Giordo, Christine Bloch, Vice President Aircraft Development, and Mark Lemke, Vice President Supply Chain, and participated in bilateral meetings.

The meeting was also an opportunity to measure the acceptance in the region of the large, approximately 3 billion investment project promoted by Radia and to take stock of the status of its implementation.

'Civil aeronautics has been waiting for an industrial plan for a long time _ said the president of the DAC, Luigi Carrino _ even in the Pnrr, nothing has been foreseen for civil aeronautics. Although there is in Italy and especially in the south of Italy a supply chain of great value in terms of skills, technologies and manufacturing capacity. The WindRunner gives us the chance to give a future to this production sector'.

For his part, Giuseppe Giordo, managing director of Radia Italia, illustrated the project, which consists for the first time in the opportunity for Italian companies to produce not only aircraft components but the entire aircraft. Giordo spoke of a constant dialogue with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and with the regions of Campania and Puglia for the definition of a plan to support the investment. 'The programme is considered interesting by everyone _ added the managing director _ but then we expect who will act first. We are thinking of a national strategic project, a series of contracts, the most suitable instrument for a large investment'.
