Rai Way: Butti – a merger with Ei Towers? The government remains committed to dialogue
In view of the further extension of the negotiations until 30 June
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - "The Government always believes in moments of discussion and debate. We have taken note of the parties’ willingness to find a compromise.” Undersecretary Alessio Butti told Radiocor on the sidelines of Telco per l’Italia, regarding the negotiations for a possible merger between Rai Way and Ei Towers, emphasising the important role that tower companies play for the country. “The role of tower companies is fundamental” also in view of “the work that telecoms operators will carry out to upgrade to 5G”.
Rai, F2i Sgr and Mfe-MediaForEurope have recently signed a new amendment to the memorandum of understanding dated 19 December 2024 concerning the potential merger between Rai Way and Ei Towers, which had previously been extended on 26 September 2025 and 31 March 2026. The new agreement sets the deadline for the extension as 30 June.
