Rai Way: new venture with Ei Towers shareholders; Rai board meeting tomorrow
Board meeting already convened: briefing on the matter likely
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Rome, 30 June - Last-minute attempts are under way to prevent the breakdown of negotiations that could lead to a merger between Rai Way and Ei Towers. According to Radiocor, with just a few hours to go before the exclusive deadline set for midnight tonight, a proposal has been received from the shareholders of Ei Towers (F2i and MFE) have put forward a proposal that addresses several unresolved issues in the negotiations, starting with the extension to 2047 of the service contracts between the tower group and the broadcasters – representing a twenty-year commitment – whilst an adjustment to the share exchange ratio is being requested. The issue of Rai holding an absolute majority in the new entity remains unchanged, as does the operational governance. A briefing on the matter is likely to take place at the Rai board meeting already scheduled for tomorrow to approve the television schedules.
