Railways: another breakdown on the Florence-Bologna line, delays of over two hours
A technical glitch at San Pellegrino was at the origin of the blockage that caused the line to go haywire. Fault resolved in the evening. Circulation also suspended for over two hours on the old Rome-Naples line
Rail traffic still in chaos. A 'technical problem on the line' in the section between Florence and Bologna is causing delays that in some cases have exceeded two hours for high-speed trains. Ferrovie dello Stato made this known on its own channels. The incident occurred at San Pellegrino. The impacts involved several high-speed trains in both directions. Monitors in the stations of Florence, Bologna and Milan informed travellers that the delays were caused by 'a breakdown in the circulation systems'.
The Rfi technicians have intervened to solve the problem and the circulation is said to be 'gradually recovering'. The repercussions, as often happens in these cases, are affecting numerous trains. The delays, also according to travellers' testimonies, are increasing at the moment.
The one between Florence and Bologna is not the only problem on the national rail network today.
For almost two hours in the afternoon, on the Rome-Naples line via Formia, circulation was 'suspended at San Marcellino due to a technical problem with a train from another railway company', Trenitalia writes on its website. "Intercity and Regional trains may be subject to cancellations, route restrictions and delays. Regional trains may be subject to cancellations, route limitations," writes Trenitalia of the Ferrovie dello Stato group. Circulation "resumed regularly at 19:20". (G.C.)
