Several hundred neo-fascists remembered - with Roman greetings and outstretched arms at the call of the 'present' - Sergio Ramelli, the student and militant of the Fronte della Gioventù killed in 1975 by a group of militants of the extra-parliamentary left linked to Avanguardia operaia. Formations of the extremist right marched in a procession with torches and Italian flags to Ramelli's house in Via Paladini, where the procession neatly lined up in several rows in front of the mural with the inscription 'Ciao Sergio', shouting three times: 'Camerata Sergio Ramelli, presente'.
Member of La Russa staff at the parade
.The procession started from Via Ponzio, near Piazzale Gorini in Milan, and was marched by neo-fascist and extreme right-wing groups such as CasaPound, Forza nuova, the Rete dei patrioti and Lealtà e azione. Torches in hand, marching in rows of five, those present - just under a thousand - reached Via Paladini, Ramelli's home. At the head of the procession the black banner reading 'Honour to the fallen comrades'.
Roberta Capotosti, staff member of the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, participated in the commemoration of Sergio Ramelli at the procession organised by various neo-fascist organisations. Although parading alongside the procession, Capotosti shouted at the rite of the present, but did not do the Roman salute. Intercepted by the choristers she made no statement, leaving the demonstration escorted by the militants of the security service.
Tension in Cagliari at commemoration ceremony
Tension and blocked traffic in Cagliari in the evening for the commemoration ceremony of Sergio Ramelli, the Fronte della Gioventù youth killed in 1975 by a group of militants of the extra-parliamentary left linked to Avanguardia operaia. About a hundred people belonging to anti-fascist movements tried to reach the small square in front of the courthouse dedicated to Ramelli himself, inaugurated just over a month ago, where an event in memory of the right-wing militant was scheduled. The counter procession moved from Piazza Garibaldi and skipped the road connecting with the event to commemorate Ramelli. But shortly afterwards it turned towards Via Oristano to try to take Via Deledda in an attempt to reach the small square named after the murdered young man. Waiting for them, however, were the police in riot gear. Police and demonstrators did not come into contact as the procession, after some slogans, headed towards via Sonnino. At the same time, the ceremony continued with the placing of a rose hanging from the plaque named after Ramelli. The same plaque, daubed during the night, was cleaned up by militants. No clashes between the participants in the two demonstrations were reported so far.
The institutional celebration
Even in the afternoon there was no shortage of controversy surrounding Ramelli's commemoration, . "I hope that sooner or later, before his term of office ends, Mayor Giuseppe Sala will come with the tricolour sash because we consider him as coming with the sash, otherwise we would consider him as one of the others and he would be at the back. Instead we have always put him in the front row as mayor,' said Senate President Ignazio La Russa during the institutional ceremony, relaunching an issue that has been going on for some time.
