In 2025, Randstad will place around 400 workers from abroad as part of the Randstad Crossboarding project. Half of them will be nurses and socio-medical assistants who will be placed in the healthcare sector, the other half will be placed in construction, engineering and ho.re.ca, carpenters, earth-moving equipment operators, electricians, fibre optic splicers, crane operators, construction labourers, CNC operators (such as turners and millers), mechanical fitters, and catering workers. Randstad's Crossboarding project envisages the placement in Italy of technical graduates or graduates with experience coming from abroad and motivated to relocate, to fill professions that are highly sought after but difficult to find in various sectors, such as construction, engineering, ho.re.ca and healthcare.
The first arrivals
.The first 25 are catering staff from Egypt, who will be employed from May at the Lagardère Travel Retail Italia Group's catering outlets in Venice Marco Polo Airport. "These are profiles selected among the most competent and motivated who, after having followed a professional training course in Italian language and culture in a school in Cairo, will be hired with a regular contract," explain the company. The 25 Egyptian restaurant workers follow 11 Social and Health Care Workers from Peru and the 164 nurses who arrived from 7 different countries. Randstad has also already signed contracts for more than 40 electricians arriving from Egypt and Kenya, has launched projects for welders from Ghana, drivers from Albania, and a further 60 Social Workers from Peru.
The demographic curve
."Demographic forecasts predict a contraction of the Italian population by 1.5 million people by 2030, in addition to which there will be a mismatch of skills and a significant shortage of talent - explains Arnaldo Carignano, Talent Director of Randstad Italy -. Due to all these factors, today it is difficult to find staff for 40% of the planned recruitments and up to 50% in the tech, mechanical and healthcare sectors. With Randstad Crossboarding we have launched a path for talents and companies that on the one hand supports companies in the search abroad for qualified personnel that are difficult to find, and on the other supports foreign workers in the various stages of integration, from selection to training, up to the management of administrative practices, ensuring that integration takes place in the most effective way'.
Randstad's 360° service
.In addition to setting up international partnerships with universities and training centres of excellence abroad for training in Italian language-culture and civic education for workers, selected on the basis of specific professional needs, Randstad takes care of vocational and civic-linguistic training projects with accredited centres, up to the issue of the relative certificates. It handles transfer paperwork (clearance, visas, support in finding accommodation), travel support, up to taking charge when workers arrive, with reception, closing procedures for residence permits and recruitment, supporting companies and workers step by step to ensure optimal integration. Nine Italian language, culture and civic education training projects have already been developed abroad for profiles in the engineering, construction and social-health sectors, but several others are due to start in the coming months. The countries identified for cross-boarding activities are Kenya, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Paraguay, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Albania, and India.
