Rare objects and secret addresses: Tara Bernerd's tips
He loves modern antiques from the 1940s and 1950s and has a metropolitan, industrial yet warm style. All sources of inspiration for the London interior designer.
The DISTINCTIVE SIGNS OF MY STYLE Bracelets, rings, pendants: I love wearing them, mixing them, layering them. They are not precious, but each one has a special story. Maybe even the sunglasses, the Antonico by Antonio Marras (EUR 290, antoniomarras.com).
MY STYLE ICON Yves Saint Laurent, for his bold choice of juxtaposing colours, peacock blues with camel coats, dusty reds and rusts: they were my inspiration for Disrupting Architecture, the collection of plaids and cushions I curated for Frette. I also greatly admire Ralph Lauren for being able to take its lifestyle concept worldwide (Disrupting Architecture collection, €450 pillows, €1,700 plaid, eu.frette.com; tarabernerd.com).
The OBJECT FROM WHICH I NEVER SEPARATE I always wear a gold necklace from which I have hung three good-luck charms: an evil eye and a shark's tooth by the American jewellery designer Loree Rodkin, and a coral horn my husband brought me from Naples (loreerodkin.com).
The LAST OBJECT I PURCHASED AND LOVED A 1950s service trolley I found at Officina Antiquaria, Luca Vitali's Milanese space dedicated to historical 20th-century design. It is a beautiful object, in curved wood, with glass and parchment shelves, it has great personality (officinaantiquaria.com).
And THAT'S WHAT I'M GOING FOR At Rita Fancsaly, one of my favourite galleries in the Brera area, I've set my sights on a circular table mirror from the 1940s by Venini signed Carlo Scarpa (table mirror with glass frame, 10.000 euros, ritafancsaly.com).
