Four new active courses for the two-year period 2024-26 can be enrolled in by 19 July (at www.itsmeccatronico.it): selections will be held from 23 to 26 July. These are Automation and Mechatronic Systems, in 12 locations, plus the new course starting in Verona in collaboration with Confindustria Verona and local food companies including Gruppo Bauli, Coca-Cola HBC Italia and Gruppo Veronesi; Innovation of Mechanical Products and Processes in three locations with the new course in Rovigo, supported by Confindustria Veneto Est; Informatics in Industry 4.0 in Vicenza and Thiene, and finally the novelty of Bassano del Grappa with the course in Innovative Materials Technology that has the support of Confindustria Vicenza and Bassano and will train 24 Technicians required by companies in which the sustainability of materials plays a fundamental role.
The Its Academy Mechatronics grows, and confirms itself as a highway to employment with an employability rate once graduated of 99%. From one course started in 2011 to 61 completed in 2024; from 22 to 1,280 students graduated to date, with 13 operating locations throughout the Veneto region, which will become 20 in October. The Its formula combines classroom and practice: 400 companies are involved in the projects, 125 of which are members of the Foundation. A total of 205 third-level apprenticeship contracts have been activated from 2018 to date. The courses are implemented under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, with the supervision and coordination of the Veneto Region and funding from PNRR funds.
The stories
To explain the 'possible future' to the students, at the course presentation events, five former students, young mechatronics technicians, now established professionals in as many companies, were also called upon to talk about their experiences, from study to entry into the company. The first rule,' they said, 'always question yourself and ask for periodic feedback so that you do not find yourself at the end of the apprenticeship without feedback to adjust your course. Also significant, they emphasised, is the fact that what one learns is functional to the needs of the companies and therefore very flexible: "This means that there is ample room to offer one's contribution to identify new solutions to respond to changes, which in the technological field are continuous.
Stories told by those who, though young, seem to have already made it, such as Giacomo Brugnolo (graduated in 2019 - Vicenza office) who immediately joined Ferrari Ventilatori in Arzignano, going from designer to project manager in just one year; Filippo Favero (graduated in 2021 - Montebelluna office) immediately found employment at Electrolux in Susegana, to move on in 2023 to the Coca Cola Hbc production plant in Nogara, with the role of identifying best practices to introduce continuous improvements not only locally but internationally; Emanuele Parolotti (graduated in 2017 - Legnago office) is now employed in the international Rockwell automation group based in Padua; Enrico Pavanello (graduated in 2018 - Vicenza office) after an internship in Mevis Spa in Rosà and Slovakia, was hired in the same company: finally, Maria Stella Vivian (graduated in 2021 - Mestre location) has been with Texa Spa in Monastier di Treviso since 2023 and is in charge of predictive machine maintenance.
Another young man, Nicolò Zavatta (an ITS student from Vicenza who died in the Marmolada glacier collapse on 3 July 2022), is honoured with six scholarships worth 500 euro each, set up in his memory to encourage Erasmus+ mobility for the most deserving, thanks to the contribution of VIacqua, Athena and the ITS Academy Mechatronic Veneto Foundation.
