Record payments of 739 million in August; over 2.7 billion in the first eight months of 2026
Over 2.7 billion euros were paid out to Italian farmers in the first eight months of 2026, with 739 million in August alone relating to payments under the Common Agricultural Policy for the 2026 marketing year. The digital transformation and administrative simplification are the main factors that have enabled Agea to deliver a further acceleration in payments to the agricultural sector at a crucial time for many crops.
The Agency for Agricultural Subsidies is resolutely continuing its efforts to improve the efficiency and streamline the administrative apparatus, thanks above all to the gradual digitisation of procedures and the adoption of a strict timetable, which has enabled it to fulfil the commitments made to producers to ensure a timely response and provide practical support for the cash flow of Italian farms, which have been severely affected by economic challenges and rising production costs.
Trends in disbursements
More specifically, over the last eight months, Agea has disbursed more than 2.78 billion euros. This result was made possible in part by the effectiveness of digitised preventive checks, which, within a broader multi-year context, have enabled the Agency to process record volumes of payments across the country. To give an idea of the trend in payments, the figures show that from 16 October to 31 December 2025, 2.96 billion was paid out, whilst, overall, from 16 October 2025 to 16 September 2026, the amounts paid to Italian farmers for various purposes totalled approximately 5.75 billion. To provide a complete picture of 2025, we are talking about 10 billion in payments that Agea channelled into the primary sector.
