The hiring outlook of Italian employers is up 19% for the next quarter. This is the sixteenth positive quarter in a row, with a marked improvement over the previous quarter and also over 2023. This is what emerges from the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey' (MEOS). "Our report indicates a dynamic labour market and general optimism on the part of companies, spread across the entire peninsula, signs of widespread confidence in the country's economic situation. In particular, we note great dynamism and attention for the IT sector, which records the highest hiring forecasts for the quarter, confirming how innovation is a driving force for our country's growth prospects,' comments Anna Gionfriddo, managing director of ManpowerGroup Italy.

The report shows that forecasts are good all over Italy and confirms the leadership of the North East where growth is +28%. This is followed by the North West with +21%, the South and Islands with +17% and the Centre with +16%. All economic sectors show signs of confidence and recovery: in particular, the forecasts for the IT, financial, real estate and energy sectors appear very positive. The Information Technology sector will be the most dynamic in the last quarter of the year with a forecast net of seasonal adjustments of +41%. Also high are the forecasts for Finance, Insurance and Real Estate (+31%), Energy and Utilities (+28%) and Telecommunications and Services (+25%). The outlook for employers in Consumer goods and services - including trade, hospitality and catering - was also good with +21%, Industry and materials with +17% and Transport, logistics and automotive with +16%. Closing the ranking, however on a positive note, are the forecasts from companies active in Health Care and life sciences - healthcare, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals - with +4% and the Other category (+9%), which mainly represents the public administration and non-profit sector.

Among the factors that are engaging companies the most at this stage is talent retention: more than a third of companies apply policies to improve work-life balance, update technological tools and reduce stress. Only 13% of companies have no initiatives at all. "Our research also shows how organisations are paying more and more attention to retaining talent," says Gionfriddo. "In addition to wide-ranging measures such as better work-life balance and combating work-related stress, particular attention is being paid to creating a more inclusive environment. In particular, we note that almost one in two companies in Italy has implemented inclusion policies, with a focus on language, training and non-discrimination. On these issues, we are proud to confirm the commitment of ManpowerGroup, which recently obtained gender equality certification".
