Rector of the Polytechnic University of Turin: we aim to train US students

The Polytechnic University of Turin is aiming for greater internationalisation by attracting students from the United States to its three-year degree programmes. “The aim is to make the university attractive to young people who, in the future, wish to apply to the best universities, such as Stanford or Berkeley. We want to create a talent pool that will establish the university as a place of return for Italians living in the United States and demonstrate that the Polytechnic, as an Italian university, is a worthwhile place to study,” explained the rector, Stefano Corgnati, whilst speaking to journalists. “The cost of our education and accommodation is such that the equivalent of their university fees here allows them to live and cover the cost of three years of university,” he added. “I’d like to start with 50 students,” said the rector. There are currently around ten US students at the Politecnico. “We need to start talking to high schools,” explained Corgnati, announcing an initial mission this coming December to engage with Italian families in the US.
