Renault Clio named European Car of the Year 2027
The award is presented by the UIGA, the Italian Union of Automotive Journalists. The French compact car succeeds the Fiat Grande Panda, which had won the award in 2026
The Renault Clio has been named ‘Auto Europa 2027’ by the UIGA, the Italian Union of Automotive Journalists. The award confirms the Renault Clio’s standing in the European automotive landscape. An iconic model for the brand and a benchmark in the B-segment for over thirty years, the Clio continues to stand out for its balance of modern design, efficiency, intuitive technologies and driving pleasure.
On the same occasion, two further awards were also presented. The Auto Europa 2027 prize, awarded by the Opinion Leaders, went to the Hyundai Ioniq 3, whilst the People’s Choice Award was presented to the Lancia Gamma.
The award, which was first established back in 1987, is dedicated to cars manufactured and sold in Europe. The finalists were selected from 24 new models, all of which were manufactured on the European continent and sold in quantities of at least 10,000 units between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026.
