Combining the culture of food sustainability and wellbeing with the social development priorities of the territory. Innovation can also be a useful tool to promote a food education increasingly focused on sustainability, becoming a concrete opportunity to encourage the involvement of the whole city. This is what ReNest. From roots to the future. A journey into food, an experiential exhibition by Nestlé that will take place from 12 to 24 May in Piazza Elsa Morante, Milan, in the heart of the CityLife district.
The Nestlé exhibition was created with the aim of promoting knowledge, awareness and culture on sustainable food system issues. A "nest", evoking care and protection, capable of meeting regeneration. This explains the name "ReNest", which combines these attitudes to create an open and inclusive space, perfect for hosting an immersive experience dedicated to the themes of food, the environment and the circular economy.
In Italia, awareness for reducing food waste is on the rise, but there is still much to be done. According to the Waste Watcher International Observatory, which released the report 'The Case of Italia 2026' in recent weeks, in our country more than EUR 7 billion worth of food ends up in the trash. In the last year, waste has dropped by 63.9 grams, reaching 554 grams per capita per week, about 26 kilograms per year. But we need to do better. In this sense, ReNest becomes an experiential and multi-sensorial path where science, art and community meet to stimulate and raise awareness of daily habits, accompanying the public to discover a more sustainable food system, starting from the concept of no waste and circular economy.
ReNest wants to relate what we eat to how we live. In a rapidly changing world, food is no longer just nourishment: it is choice, identity, memory, responsibility and emotion. It is a way of saying who we are, telling a deep connection to our roots. ReNest encapsulates Nestlé's vision. The exhibition is an invitation to re-read our history, reconnect with our founding values and renew our commitment to the future.
In the exhibition, "Good Food" tells the story of the food system in which Nestlé products and their good practices are embedded: from regenerative agriculture to innovation in supply chains, to conscious choices in the use and reuse of resources. "Good Life", on the other hand, expresses the positive impact of food on people and communities: physical, social and environmental well-being, born of good, balanced and responsible nutrition. The "Good Food" in the itinerary is declined in totems and interactive installations, while to come into contact with the "Good Life" one must arrive at the centre of the exhibition, in the beating heart of the project: the Nest.
