Report: 2015 photo of Anti-Mafia President Colosimo with bust of Mussolini
The 9 November episode of the Rai3 programme retrieves the image shared on Facebook of the Fratelli d'Italia MP
A "photo from 2015 rediscovered by Report" in which "Chiara Colosimo, deputy of Fratelli d'Italia and president of the Anti-Mafia Commission, had herself portrayed posing with a bust of Benito Mussolini". The Rai3 programme publishes this on its Facebook profile, with an excerpt from the investigation that will be aired tonight at 8.30 pm. At the time, Colosimo, the Report post reads, 'had already served her first term as a regional councillor for Fratelli d'Italia and had been a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies'.
In tonight's episode, 'the president of the Anti-Mafia Commission confirms its authenticity and, for the first time, tackles in depth the question of his relations with his uncle Paolo Colosimo, who was convicted for having acted as a go-between between the extreme right-wing businessman Gennaro Mokbel and the 'ndrangheta''. In the photo, explains journalist Giorgio Mottola in the clip published by Sigfrido Ranucci's programme, next to Colosimo 'there is Pamela Perricciolo, and in the foreground appears the bust of Mussolini. After some research, we discover that the photo had also been posted on Facebook, on Perricciolo's private profile, accompanied by the sentence 'We are working with Grandpa Benito to create our own relaxation corner'. Chiara Colosimo also appears to have been tagged in the post. The date is 10 June 2015, when Colosimo had already been a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies and had finished her first term as regional councillor for Giorgia Meloni's party'.
Of the photo, Mottola also asks Perricciolo about it: "I am still right-wing yes, which is an offence?" she replies to the journalist, who points out the risk of apologia for fascism. "But when? We never had a bust of Benito Mussolini,' says Perricciolo. "Where did you find this photo?". And then: 'Think how bad it could have been that we've had it in profile for years.... I don't know, I don't remember 'this photo, but if you say there is 'this photo' there will be 'this photo'" To Mottola who tries to press her by asking if this is not 'serious' for her and Colosimo, Perricciolo replies: 'But maybe we were joking about something, I can't remember 14 years ago. You say there was a bust, I've never had busts at home, I don't know where you say we took this picture'.
