Riccardo Bossi sentenced to 16 months for mistreatment of his mother

Riccardo Bossi, the eldest son of Lega Nord founder Umberto Bossi, was sentenced at first instance by the court of Varese to one year and four months for mistreatment of his mother. The facts at the centre of the trial date back to 2016 and the lawyer Federico Magnante, Bossi Jr's defender (who never appeared in court), has already announced an appeal to the Court of Appeal.

The mother filed a complaint against Riccardo Bossi for ill-treatment and threats, but then withdrew the complaint and reassured the judge in the courtroom that relations with her son had returned to serene and any possible family fracture had been recomposed. The complaint that was withdrawn automatically dropped the charge of threats, but left open that of ill-treatment, for which he is proceeding ex officio.

Among the incidents alleged by the prosecution against Bossi, who has always denied any charges, are the incessant demands for money made to his mother, with outbursts of anger that in one case led the defendant to lay his hands on the woman, who was living with him in his house in Azzate at the time, causing her to bang her head against the wall.

Today's is only the latest judicial affair involving Riccardo Bossi. In January of this year, in fact, the son of the 'Senatùr' had been sentenced to two years and six months, in an abbreviated procedure, by the Gup of the court of Busto Arsizio for having unduly received the citizenship income for a few months. The motivations will be filed in 90 days.
