Road, gravel and eMTB: Ducati takes up the challenge once again in the world of cycling
The Borgo Panigale-based company presents its new complete range of two-wheelers featuring carbon-fibre frames, in partnership with the Zucchetto Group: design, technology and expertise in a project built from the ground up with a focus on performance
Distinctive design, continuous innovation, a pursuit of performance. And, of course, it’s even better if the frame is that signature red colour that identifies Ducati-branded motorbikes worldwide. Guided by these values, as it marks its centenary, the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer is relaunching its foray into high-performance bicycles in partnership with Diamant, part of the Zecchetto Group, which brings its expertise in the cycling world. This new chapter in Ducati’s venture into non-motorised two-wheelers sees the introduction of road and gravel models, alongside a revamp of its e-bike range with a focus on mountain bikes. The new Cycling MY 2027 range was unveiled on the eve of the International Bike Festival in Misano.
“It is an accessory for motorbikes that is much appreciated by our enthusiasts: the bicycle represents a continuation of the two-wheeled experience, and we have chosen to focus on a long-term project by combining our expertise in design and racing with the professionalism and quality of a partner of the very highest calibre,” explained Ducati’s CEO Claudio Domenicali.
“It is a great privilege for us to partner with such a high-calibre Italian group – a brand renowned worldwide for its expertise and performance – combining passion, know-how and technology, and enabling our group to create a product that rounds off our range in the world of sport,” echoed Philippe Zecchetto, CEO of Diamant, who hopes to continue the journey begun by supplying bicycles to Eddy Merckx and Mario Cipollini for their entrepreneurial ventures following their cycling careers.
Carbon “made in Italy”
With the aim of creating two-wheelers that offer an increasingly smooth and engaging riding experience, Ducati’s latest chapter has drawn on the expertise of champions such as Elia Viviani, Vincenzo Nibali, Alessandro Petacchi, Mattia Viel and Lorenzo Suding, to develop a complete range that is already looking ahead to a new model. The new road and gravel bikes, developed as part of a project started from scratch two years ago, are built around a carbon-fibre monocoque frame, which utilises exclusively Italian raw materials, from the engineering of the mould to the lamination process: “The carbon fibre is processed with the aim of achieving lightness without compromising performance and safety,” continues Zecchetto, “carbon fibre really comes into its own when the material is uniform.”
As well as being available in standard versions, the road and gravel ranges are also available as simple framesets for the most discerning cyclists who wish to customise individual components using an online configurator.
