At least EUR 30 million robbery for the 'hole gang' in Germany
The contents of more than 95 per cent of the safe deposit boxes were allegedly stolen and more than 2,500 victims were reported to have been claimed
According to the first reconstructions by the police in Gelsenkirchen, the 'hole gang' that managed to break into a bank vault in the past few days has stolen around thirty million euros from the safety deposit boxes, various press organs report. The contents of more than 95 per cent of the safe-deposit boxes would have been stolen and the victims would be more than 2,500.
This morning, a large crowd had gathered in front of the bank seeking an explanation; the police had to intervene to calm the crowd and explain that the bank branch would remain closed.
The criminals managed to gain access to the vault from the underground car park next to the bank, from where they would make a hole and then enter the bank premises. Only later would the dust set off the fire alarm.
