Roland Garros, free to air on Nine at 7pm the Arnaldi-Cobolli semifinal. The other matches and where to see them
Warner Bros Discovery grants free viewing for the historic challenge between the two blues. On SuperTennis, also free to air, Bolelli-Vavassori in the doubles thanks to the agreement with Fitp
Key points
Italian tennis takes the stage on free-to-air TV. The Roland Garros semi-final between Matteo Arnaldi and Flavio Cobolli will be broadcast tomorrow, Friday 5 June, on Nove, Warner Bros Discovery's free generalist channel, live from Paris at 7pm, with pre-match from 6.30pm.
Wbd's OK
Warner Bros. Discovery has therefore given its approval to transforming an event that originated in the pay channel of Eurosport, Hbo Max and discovery+ into a broad, generalist television event.
The reason is simple: never before have two Italians faced each other in the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament. Cobolli, 24 years old, number 10, arrives at the appointment after an almost clean sweep, with just two sets lost. Arnaldi, 25 years old and number 104 in the ranking, on the other hand, is the surprise of the tournament: comebacks, battles to the fifth set, victories against Griekspoor, Tsitsipas, Collignon and Frances Tiafoe. For both of them it will be their first Slam semi-final.
"This is a historic event for Italian sport and our group is proud, thanks also to our partners, to offer an extraordinary match such as the semi-final of Roland Garros between two Italian tennis players live on Nine," says Alessandro Araimo, managing director of Warner Bros Discovery for Southern Italy. "Arnaldi and Cobolli, together with Jannik Sinner and the entire Italia tennis movement, are giving incredible emotions to the Italian audience, in a tournament that has always been the flagship of Warner Bros Discovery's sports offer."
The doubles semi-final is also free
The day will also have another unencrypted window: from 12 noon the men's doubles semifinal Bolelli-Vavassori against Granollers-Zeballos is onSuperTennis Tv (channel 64 of the digital terrestrial), as well as on Eurosport channels and Wbd platforms, thanks to a partnership with Fitp (the Italian tennis and padel federation led by Angelo Binaghi).
