Jannik Sinner also defeated Novak Djokovic and won his first final at Roland Garros, the tournament he is pursuing together with Wimbledon. It ended 6-4, 7-5, 7-6: it was the fourth consecutive victory against the Serb who hoped to win his 25th Slam in Paris. Sunday's final will be with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz: world number one and two, just like in Rome, where Jannik lost in two sets.

Under an unrelenting wind, Sinner went ahead in the first set (break as early as 2-2) while Nole tried to break the rhythm with continuous short balls. Despite a lacklustre first serve (below 50%) and a few too many errors with his forehand, the Italian ended the set without any problems in 46 minutes.

When the exchange lengthens and the pressing becomes more and more asphyxiating, Nole struggles, a bit like it has always happened to his opponents over the years, who would spend themselves to the limit only to succumb to him. Yet he remained desperately attached to the match with his proverbial tenacity and in spite of his 38 years of age, even after giving up his service game on 3 break points in the second set. The Italian, however, did not lose heart, showed his unshakable mental solidity and in the next game went ahead again to then close the game 7-5, finally with a heavy serve.

Pride was not enough for the Serb to win at least a set. Not even three set points were enough, which Sinner on 4-5, in a very tense game, cancelled. After all, in the Serb's career, one cannot count the number of times in which, at a disadvantage of two sets, he has managed to overturn the fortunes of the match and bring it home. But there was no more time: even though the Italian appeared tired, he played incomparably well at the tiebreak, going ahead 3-0, then 5-2, until he extinguished his opponent's last hopes. It ends 7-3 and arms in the air.
