Rome, five bullet holes found in the CGIL headquarters in Primavalle
Five bullet holes, 'one in each of the windows and shutters' in the union headquarters
Five bullet holes, "one for each of the windows and shutters of our headquarters" in the Primavalle district of Rome. This is the image denounced by the Rome and Lazio CGIL and the Chamber of Labour of Civitavecchia Roma Nord Viterbo.
An assault reported in the afternoon of 7 January, hours after the morning reopening. Just then the shots were noticed.
"No claims reported"
The union has 'immediately requested the intervention of the police and filed a complaint, placing ourselves at the full disposal of the investigators, so that the perpetrators of this very serious act of intimidation, which only affected the CGIL and no other neighbouring premises, are identified as soon as possible. An act for which there are no claims".
"What happened worries us greatly," reads the note, "also in relation to a climate of hostility and constant delegitimisation of our trade union organisation, but we will continue to garrison the territory and provide answers to the problems of the people who turn to our offices. Beyond the matrix of the gesture, which will be ascertained in the appropriate fora, the CGIL in the Primavalle district constitutes a garrison of legality and democracy. This is why we will not allow ourselves to be intimidated by this very serious act, on whose responsibility we demand clarity as soon as possible".
Another attack on National Youth militants
A climate, in fact, shaken a few hours earlier by another attack, this time against militants of the National Youth as they were putting up posters commemorating the Acca Larenzia massacre, in which three young members of the Fronte della Gioventù lost their lives in 1978.
