Rome: Call for applications for 2026–2027 book vouchers now online: “The grant amount has increased”

Roma Capitale’s call for applications for the 2026–2027 Book Vouchers, intended for pupils at lower and upper secondary schools and those on vocational education and training (IeFP) courses, who come from households with an ISEE indicator not exceeding €15,493.71, in accordance with the Lazio Region’s ‘Guidelines’ of 29 July 2026.

For the 2026–2027 school year in Rome, the fee will be 230 euros for Year 7 pupils in lower secondary school and for Year 10 and Year 13 pupils in upper secondary school, whilst it will be 175 euros for all other year groups.

The vouchers can be used to purchase printed and digital textbooks, dictionaries, fiction books recommended by schools, software and other educational resources, including laptops and tablets. Once again this year, Roma Capitale is confirming that the grant will be paid out at the start of the school year, allowing families to use the voucher directly at approved retailers without having to pay upfront and wait for a subsequent refund.

Support measures will also be put in place to help families facing the greatest difficulties to submit their applications. Support will be available through third-sector organisations registered with the RUNTS that provide this service, the Digital Facilitators based in municipal registry offices, the Migrant Schools Network, the Municipal Public Relations Offices, and other local services to be specified in the public notice. “Once again this year, we have worked to make the voucher allocation process more effective and better able to make the most of available resources. This effort has enabled us, over the years, to progressively increase the value of the grant,” said Claudia Pratelli, Rome’s Councillor for Schools, Training and Employment.

“When we took office, the maximum grant was 130 euros; today it has risen to 230 euros. This is a deliberate choice: to support families with one of the most significant expenses of the school year and to ensure that no one is denied the resources they need to study. But we have also worked to ensure that this opportunity is truly accessible to everyone, by strengthening the network of services and organisations that help people with their applications. To date, Rome has reached more than 46,000 students, with support that is having a positive impact on families’ finances. We are proud of this,” concludes the councillor.
