Banks: Rottigni (ABI), year-on-year growth of 3 per cent in lending to households and businesses in May

17 months of growth in the retail sector and 11 months in the business-to-business sector

"We saw a 3 per cent increase in May in total lending to households, private individuals and businesses." This was stated by Marco Rottigni, Director General of the Italian Banking Association (ABI), ahead of the release of the figures in the association’s monthly report. In April, lending had grown by 2.7 per cent year-on-year, and in March by 2.4 per cent. “We have been seeing growth in the retail sector for 17 months and in lending to businesses for 11 months.”
