A car bomb explosion in Moscow reportedly killed a Russian general. This was reported by the Reuters news agency. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the explosion occurred inside a vehicle and caused the death of the high-ranking officer, who was responsible for supervising the training of the Russian armed forces.
The France Presse news agency states that the officer killed was called Fanil Sarvanov and was head of the Operational Training Department of the General Staff. The Russian Investigative Committee specified that one of the leads being considered is the one "linked" to the "Ukrainian special services".
Moscow rules out US-Ukraine-Russia trilateral
On the peace talks front, Russia's excludes the hypothesis of a trilateral with the US and Ukraine, but opens up talks with France. "Putin is ready for dialogue with Macron," according to the Kremlin. The Elysée underlines that now "with the prospect of a truce it is again useful to talk with Moscow".
Russia "remains fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine," said Steve Witkoff at the end of weekend meetings in Miami. "Russia greatly appreciates the efforts and support of the United States to resolve the Ukrainian conflict and restore global security," the official added without, however, specifying whether there had been any progress in the talks.
"The Ukrainian delegation held a series of productive and constructive meetings with American and European partners," reads the statement circulated by Rustem Umerov and Witkoff after the three-day Miami event. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev hints that the next summit could take place in Moscow.
