Ryan Coogler ('The Sinners')

The nomination for Best Director is one of 16 nominations for 'The Sinners', a film of which Ryan Coogler can only be extremely proud. After having directed such successful films as 'Creed' and 'Black Panther', Coogler has come of age with this intelligent and deeply political work. It is still not enough to overtake favourite Paul Thomas Anderson, but it remains his main competitor.
