A long and successful career in consulting and private equity firms, a strong connection with fashion to the point of reaching the top of some companies, as in the case of the roles he held as general manager of Furla and as ceo for the relaunch of Valextra, a creative soul looking for an outlet in the world of luxury clothing.

These are the characteristics of Sara Ferrero, founder with 62% of the shares of the Sa Su Phi brand, which combines Sara's name with that of Susanna Cucco, a partner in the venture with 20% (the two partners are now buying back shares from the third shareholder), and the initials of philosophy, to show that a new philosophy of women's clothing is driving the business. But also a name that creates an assonance with the French phrase ça suffit, enough is enough. Because Sara wanted to change direction and leave the demanding and complex world of private equity to choose another challenge and dedicate herself to her own brand.

We meet in the bright showroom on Via Montebello in Milan, designed as a hospitable home with a large convivial kitchen and lounge dominated by a long light wood table. Here one immediately feels at ease, surrounded by the forthcoming autumn/winter 2025-2026 collection that marries the classic colours of black and white with aubergine and chocolate tones and some soft shades such as light yellow and pale pink.

The collections

'We are on our fourth collection,' Sara says, 'as the brand was born right around Covid in 2020. I came back from London, where I had lived for about ten years, and I chose to give my life a turn. With the brand, we started with knitwear, a first collection of 22 pieces, which was then combined with shiny, crisp duchesse garments as a contrast to fine cashmere, which in knitwear is our signature".

Sara is keen to emphasise the constant search for shapes to target the garments at a woman who lives on the move. "Our lines are modern and practical but always elegant," she explains. "A practical minimalism that recalls Margiela's designs for Hermès and the style of Joseph.

Sara is realising her dream of expressing the most creative part of her personality and an ethical style. "This collection is built around the concept of creating the perfect wardrobe: a fusion of masculine and feminine elements, perfectly balanced," she says. Inspired by icons such as Bianca Jagger, Sigourney Weaver, Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton, the collection celebrates the ability to alternate feminine suits with tailored dinner jackets. The search for fabrics ranges from masculine fabrics from Loro Piana and Ermenegildo Zegna for workwear mixed with the femininity of cashmere jumpers, which feature an English rib as an embroidery for Cariaggi yarns. Lightweight jackets and coats with an impeccable cut show innovative touches, marrying elegance with comfort, from the side pockets to the belt positioned only at the front of the garment to prevent the lace-up effect from bulging the figure. And even pleated trousers made from Ratti's luxurious silks become hyper-feminine.

The numbers

"The strategic approach rewards", says Sara, "production is growing by 50% every year. Today the brand offers around 80-100 styles per collection, half of which are knitwear, which remains the strong point, and the remaining 50% ready-to-wear. For the new collection, we have registered 70% more customers,' she concludes.
