(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Saab shares rise on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, thanks to an order from the French army. Saab and the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) have signed a contract for the supply of Saab’s new-generation light anti-tank system NLAW (Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon). Deliveries are scheduled for between 2026 and 2030. The order comprises NLAW launchers and training simulators. The contract also includes options allowing France to order NLAW launchers at a later date. The value of the contract has not been specified.
As Saab points out, the NLAW is an anti-tank system already in use by various countries, including Sweden, the United Kingdom and Finland, and ‘provides armed forces with exceptional anti-tank capability, based on innovative technology, without requiring complex set-ups. Its intelligent guidance system allows a single soldier to neutralise any modern tank with a single shot, from inside a building, from behind a corner or from a covered position.” The NLAW “will bring a new level of anti-tank capability that will change the dynamics on the battlefield for the French army,” said Gorgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics division.
