Saipem: offshore contract for Sakarya gas field, value $425 million

Saipem has been awarded a new offshore contract by Turkish Petroleum OTC for further activities as part of the extension of the third phase of the Sakarya gas field development project in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea. The value of the contract is approximately $425 million. The activities awarded to Saipem comprise the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of three additional pipelines, totalling approximately 153 km, with associated subsea structures, which will connect the newly discovered natural gas reservoir in the Goktepe field to the Sakarya Phase 3 facilities. The Goktepe field is located at a depth of 2,200 metres and at a distance of about 80 km from the Sakarya Phase 3 field. The new infrastructure will allow for increased production from the field's development. The contract, with a duration of about two and a half years, will be operated in continuity with the contract signed in September 2025 for the third phase of the Sakarya field development. The offshore campaign will be conducted by Saipem's Castorone pipelay vessel in the second half of 2027.

News of the new contract came just hours after Saipem was awarded two offshore contracts in Saudi Arabia, as part of its long-term agreement with Aramco. The first contract, with a duration of 32 months, comprises the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of approximately 34 kilometres of pipelines and related work on topside structures at the Berri and Abu Safah oil fields. The second contract, with a duration of 12 months, includes subsea operations at the Marjan field and the engineering, procurement and construction of onshore pipelines and related connections. For the offshore operations, Saipem will use its construction vessels currently deployed in the region. The project-related fabrication activities will be carried out at Saipem's Saudi Arabian fabrication yard, Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid Fabricators Co. Ltd., in Dammam, with the aim of enhancing and developing the capabilities of the local industry. The award of these new contracts strengthens Saipem's "presence in Saudi Arabia and further consolidates its long-standing relationship with Aramco," a note said.
