Saipem has been awarded an offshore Epc contract by QatarEnergy Lng for the combined Comp3a & Comp3b packages of the 'North Field production sustainability offshore compression programme' project, aimed at supporting the production of the North Field offshore natural gas field, located off the north-eastern coast of Qatar. This was announced by the company, explaining that the value of the contract is approximately USD 4 billion.
Saipem's activities include the engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of six platforms, approximately 100 km of rigid subsea pipelines in 24- and 28-inch diameter anti-corrosion alloys, 100 km of subsea composite cables, 150 km of fibre optic cables and various other subsea structures.
"This important contract follows the EPC package for the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Complexes - [COMP 2] project, which Saipem was awarded in October 2022 and is currently under execution. This project further consolidates Saipem's positioning and track record in Qatar," the company said in the note.
