RaccontItineranti is an ambitious project uniting the municipalities of Baronissi, Fisciano, Pellezzano, Castel San Giorgio and San Valentino Torio, located in the Irno and Sarno valleys in the province of Salerno. The project aims to create an integrated network to enhance the area's cultural, food and wine and wellness resources, promoting sustainable and quality tourism.
The five municipalities, coordinated by Baronissi as lead partner, decided to work together to develop a project that could have a positive and lasting impact on the area. The geographic proximity and excellent transport infrastructure, such as the motorway network and proximity to railway stations and Salerno airport, make this area already easily accessible and particularly suitable for an integrated tourism project.
The area is rich in natural attractions, such as the Picentini Mountains and the Gulf of Salerno, as well as numerous typical local products of indigenous cultivation, protected by I.G.P. and D.O.P. marks. One of the main objectives of the project is the promotion of these products, together with the enhancement of historical structures and sites of religious and artistic-cultural interest.
RaccontItineranti envisages promotional and knowledge activities such as the organisation of cultural events, the creation of wine and food routes, and activities related to wellness and health. Significant events include the 'Presepe del Ciliegio' in Baronissi, an event that attracts numerous visitors, and the 'Festival Libro Aperto', dedicated to literature for children and young people.
The project - which participates in the Borghi Salute Benessere (Health and Wellbeing Villages) call for proposals promoted by the Campania Region and Scabec - not only aims to valorise excellence, but also to create a sustainable development model that can be replicated in other territorial realities. The key to success lies in the ability of each municipality to make its own contribution in terms of experience and resources, working in synergy for a shared objective.
