The Salone del Mobile lands in Riyadh with 30 Italian design companies
From 26 to 28 November 2025 the 'Red in Progress' event, in preparation for the fair to be held in November 2026
Ten months after the signing of the memorandum of understanding - signed last January with the Architecture and Culture Commission of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture in the framework of an Italian government mission that saw the signing of treaties worth over €10 billion - the Salone del Mobile di Milano is preparing to land in Riyadh with an exhibition event scheduled from 26 to 28 November at the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh.
The pathway to the 2026 fair
.The event 'Red in progress. Salone del Mobile.Milano meets Riyadh' (which will have the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ice Agency) will bring together an installation curated by the Giò Forma architecture studio, a cultural programme and a B2B platform: the project will in fact present furniture, lighting, surfaces and complements from around 35 Italian companies and will also be an opportunity for contact and exchange with Saudi investors.
This is, as Salone del Mobile's General Director Marco Sabetta explained, a very important, prodromal moment in view of the actual exhibition that will be held in November 2026, as envisaged by the Memorandum and the partnership between the Salone and the Saudi Ministry of Culture, which aims to enhance the creative and manufacturing supply chains of the two countries also through initiatives of an exhibition and cultural nature, the valorisation of local talents and sustainability and innovation practices.
Saudi market numbers
.'We have been working on this project for two years and now it is finally taking shape,' said Show President Maria Porro. Saudi Arabia is still a relatively small market: in 2024 the entire wood-furnishing supply chain exported about 288.3 million euro to this country, but it is the second largest market in the Gulf area, after the United Arab Emirates, and it offers great potential for growth, as demonstrated by the rate of increase, which in 2023 was 29% compared to 2022 and last year 16.9%," she added, citing data from FederlegnoArredo's study centre.
The President of the Federation, Claudio Feltrin, also reiterated the strategic importance of this market, especially in an international context that sees trade compromised by American tariffs and makes it necessary to search for new outlets and balances: "The Furniture Fair confirms its ability to express not only the know-how of Italian furniture companies, but also to always seek new horizons, industrial, creative and commercial".
