A meeting to take stock of the strategy for the upcoming regional elections in Veneto. The governing coalition is still trying to square the circle on the candidate. In the early afternoon in Venice, the meeting between Matteo Salvini and Luca Zaia took place at Palazzo Balbi, the seat of the Veneto region. The two arrived by speedboat at 3pm.

.According to reports, the atmosphere was cordial. Among the topics discussed were the Milan-Cortina Olympics and infrastructure. As far as politics is concerned, there was a discussion on the regional elections, the prospects in Veneto, and Zaia's future commitments. In particular, it would have emerged from the meeting the need for a Leghist candidate, in continuity with Zaia. Any conclusions were however postponed to the centre-right majority summit that has not yet been convened but is scheduled for next week.
