League leader Matteo Salvini announced that the Carroccio is joining Orban 's Patriots' group in the European Parliament, and thus exiting Id, Identity and Democracy. "Meanwhile, today, after a long work, the large group of Patriots is born with the League in Brussels, which will be decisive to change the future of this Europe," said Salvini, in a comment on social media in the aftermath of the legislative elections in France.

.The Patriots' group is expected to grow to 80 MEPs, establishing itself as the third force in the Euro Chamber. In addition to Le Pen and Salvini, and to the three founding parties - the Hungarian Fidesz, the Austrian Fpo and the Czech Ano - the Dutch extreme right of Geert Wilders' Pvv, the Spanish Vox, the Flemish Vlaams Belang, the Portuguese Chega and the Danes of the Dansk Folkeparti have already joined. The Rassemblement National alone has 30 MEPs.
