San Donato Group: renewed management of Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital in Iraq
The agreement confirmed by the Iraqi Ministry of Health to run the Najaf University Hospital, one of the San Donato Group's major international projects, is worth $40.5 million a year
The San Donato Group strengthens collaboration with the Iraqi health system. In Baghdad, on the sidelines of a series of institutional meetings, Kamel Ghribi, President of the GKSD Group and Vice-President of the San Donato Group, met the Prime Minister of Iraq Ali al-Zaidi, confirming the consolidation of the relationship between Iraqi health institutions and the model of health excellence represented by the San Donato Group.
During the summit, an agreement was officiallyrenewed with the Iraqi Ministry of Health for the management of the Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital, located in Najaf, a city in central Iraq of about one and a half million inhabitants and one of the holiest places in Shia Islam. The agreement is worth 40.5 million dollars a year and concerns one of the most important international healthcare projects developed by the San Donato Group in the Middle East.
According to the Group,the hospital today represents a strategic reference point for the entire country. The facility has 492 beds, 30 of which are dedicated to the private area, 17 operating theatres, 24 intensive care beds and 24 emergency room beds. Every day it registers more than 1,500 outpatient admissions. 160 professionals, including 21 key specialists, are involved in the clinical and organisational management.
"The renewal of this agreement represents an important achievement not only from a health point of view, but also from a human and institutional one," Ghribi said. "Health can and must be an instrument of cooperation, stability and development between peoples. Over these years, we have worked to build quality, training, skills and trust, contributing concretely to the strengthening of the Iraqi health system'.
Ghribi also expressed appreciation for the leadership of the new Iraqi prime minister. "I found in Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi a pragmatic, determined and results-oriented leadership, he said. According to the president of the GKSD Group, al-Zaidi's entrepreneurial background enables him to quickly understand the country's strategic priorities and make decisions with operational effectiveness and vision. "This approach is a very important element for the future of Iraq and for strengthening international cooperation," he added.
