Santanchè investigated in Milan for another bankruptcy case

Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè is under investigation in Milan for another bankruptcy hypothesis, the one concerning the bankruptcy of Bioera, the spa of the biofood group of which the senator was president until 2021. A bankruptcy charge was already known against Santanchè, the one concerning the collapse of Ki Group srl, another company of the group.

It had already emerged in late December 2024 that Santanchè has been under investigation for bankruptcy for some time after the January 2024 collapse of the group's srl, together with her former partner Canio Mazzaro, her brother Michele Mazzaro and other former directors. The FdI senator was president and legal representative of Ki Group srl from April 2019 to December 2021. In recent months, then, again in the investigations of the Public Prosecutor's Office headed by Marcello Viola, with the deputy Roberto Pellicano and the prosecutor Luigi Luzi, recently joined by his colleague Guido Schininà, the liquidator's report was also filed on Bioera, the parent company that went bankrupt at the end of 2024, of which the parliamentarian was president until 2021. After that report was filed, another bankruptcy file was opened, which led to the new entry in the register of suspects of, among others, the minister, together with Mazzaro. The judgement of the judicial liquidation mentioned a 'negative net worth', i.e. a 'hole' for Bioera, of around EUR 8 million. Then, on 5 June 2025, another of the group's companies, Ki Group Holding spa, went bankrupt, again with annexed further possible judicial troubles due to bankruptcy profiles. On this front, the filing of the liquidator's report is awaited, and then the three cases should be combined in a single file, with several suspects and charges, in view of the closure of the investigation. In general, they are being investigated for hypotheses of bankruptcy by corporate offences, such as false accounting, and fraudulent bankruptcy by fraudulent transactions.

Santanchè, meanwhile, is already on trial for false accounting in the Visibilia case, the publishing group she founded and from which she has divested herself of posts and shares. And she is in preliminary hearing (suspended pending a hearing of the Consulta) for aggravated fraud to the Inps on the redundancy fund in the Covid period, again on the Visibilia chapter.
