Porto Torres regeneration: 40 million to transform the industrial area
The Region is investing 40 million to regenerate Porto Torres, aiming at environmental sustainability and economic revitalisation.
A 40-million euro plan torelaunch the industrial pole of Porto Torres. After the end of petrochemicals and the gradual decommissioning, the reconversion phase begins for the industrial area, a landmark in the province of Sassari. The go-ahead for the disbursement of resources comes from the Region with the agreement to allocate funds to the Consortium that manages the industrial area, for years the symbol and headquarters of Petrolchimica.
Cypess Resources
The resources involved are those allocated last May to the Region by the CIPESS (Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development). A new course, as the Region emphasises, and the agreement 'is a fundamental step in unlocking the investments envisaged in the regeneration programme for the industrial areas of Porto Torres'.
"The signing of the conventions and the operational start of the construction sites," says Emanuele Cani, Regional Councillor for Industry, "mark a concrete step towards the regeneration of the Porto Torres industrial area, with interventions aimed at enhancing the areas, environmental sustainability, and the economic revitalisation of the territory. A path that looks at development in a 'sustainable' key.
The turning point for the industrial zone
Also looking positively towards what has been defined as the turning point for the industrial area are the operators working in the area: 'The councillor has shown great attention towards the revitalisation of our industrial area,' emphasises Simona Fois, president of the Industrial Consortium, 'and we have shared a clear vision on the strategic objectives. If all the institutional actors work in synergy, the results are not slow in coming.
Current initiatives
In particular, the tender for the demolition works on the former Cementir lot is currently being published, with the aim of awarding the contract by the end of the year. The project, which is currently in the process of being approved by the Services Conference, concerns a strategic area in the backshore area and constitutes the first part of the broader and long-awaited decommissioning plan for around 46 hectares of disused industrial land.
