Sardinia, 200 million from the Region to support industrial consortia
Initiatives to boost productivity with focus on the marble sector and the marine industry
Support for provincial industrial consortia to relaunch production activities and industry in Sardinia, enhancing the value chains. All thanks to a series of investments worth more than EUR 200 million.
This is the card played by the Region of Sardinia, which has decided to invest these resources precisely in the organisations operating in the island's various industrial or craft districts.
Resources for Industry
"The provincial industrial consortia can and must become central to the development of the various production activities in Sardinia,' says Emanuele Cani, Regional Councillor for Industry. As a region, we are promoting the attractiveness of these areas through the construction of new infrastructures and the strengthening of existing ones'. This also concerns other facilities such as the Pip and Zir areas, industrial zones of regional interest. "The Department of Industry believes strongly in the enhancement of industrial consortia, and in the past two years we have demonstrated this by pouring more than EUR 200 million in resources into industrial areas," he adds, "and we will allocate more to further strengthen their infrastructures. In our vision, the consortia can become fundamental for those who do industry'.
Marble sector
This also includes initiatives concerning the stone and marble sector, which in Sardinia has 73 active quarries, 48 of which are granite, 12 limestone and marble, 10 basalt and trachyte, 2 slabs and one sandstone point. A sector that has a thousand direct workers and an allied industry that is worth as much and is now looking to international markets.
"Italia is the second largest exporter of stone materials in the world and the first in terms of technology, a sector that generates a turnover of over 4.5 billion euro, with 3,200 companies that employ about 34 thousand people," adds Cani. "In this context, the Region intends to promote a sector that also in Sardinia, after a past crisis in the sector, promises highly encouraging development projections.
