Sardinia, the new air territorial continuity season begins
Connections between Sardinian airports with Rome and Milan at reduced rates for residents, relatives of those living on the island, students and workers
Key points
For connections between the three Sardinian airports and those of Rome and Milan, the new air territorial continuity will be introduced. This means fixed 'concessionary' fares, lower than in the past, for residents, relatives of those living on the island, and other categories ranging from students to workers. A solution adopted some time ago to ensure more 'accessible' connections with the island. Now the new season begins.
A necessary change
"It was a necessary change," commented Region President Alessandra Todde. "The old model did not guarantee the certainty of travel to and from Sardinia, particularly for those travelling for work, study or health reasons, especially during periods of greatest demand. The new continuity comes after a long period of negotiations with the European Commission and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and our priority has always been to make Sardinia more open and accessible'.
More flights to Rome and Milan
The main novelties, as underlined by the Region, consist in 'the structural increase of frequencies and available seats to and from Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia, to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, with a timetable articulation on four daily bands instead of the previous three. More specifically: 'early morning 6:00 - 9:00, late morning: 9:00 - 13:00, afternoon 13:00 - 18:30, evening 18:30 - 23:00'. "This," the president emphasises, "is to ensure as much as possible that those who travel for work or health reasons can return during the day.
It starts from 30 euro
Reduced fares: you will pay around €30 one way to Rome and €44 to Milan, excluding VAT and airport taxes.
The connections on five routes are guaranteed by Aeroitalia. The company will guarantee the Cagliari-Rome Fiumicino and return connections under the new territorial continuity scheme, without economic compensation, and Cagliari-Milan Linate and return. Also under the responsibility of Aeroitalia are Olbia-Rome Fiumicino: the round trip will cost €119. The Olbia-Milan Linate round trip will cost approximately €142 while the Alghero-Rome Fiumicino route will cost approximately €119.
