World titles? Four. Records? Plenty. The class? Like few in the history of Formula 1. Max Verstappen is the face of Formula 1 today. And he was destined to be. After all, he was the youngest ever to win a race in motorsport's premier class (at 18 years, 7 months and 15 days) and today anyone who wants to excel has to reckon with his talent. This season, despite being more complicated than the previous ones, he has finished on the winner's podium twice in twelve races and has taken four pole positions (at the time of writing). Given Tag Hauer's partnership with his Oracle Red Bull Racing team, he was also at the launch of the new Monaco watches in May during the Grand Prix de Monaco weekend.

This year Tag Heuer is back as official timekeeper of Formula 1. How do you feel about wearing a watch from a brand that has written such important pages of the sport? .

Having him back as timekeeper, I think, is perfect for our sport because it is a brand that has always been an integral part of Formula 1. For me, wearing a Monaco is a natural gesture that I hope to continue to do in the future!

You are one of the faces of the brand's new Designed to Win campaign. Do you feel the same way?

In a way, yes. Ever since I was a child, I was programmed to win. It was my father who introduced me to the sport. Our goal was to get into Formula 1, to be competitive and to win.

Keeping on topic: what is your relationship with the weather. On the track, you know, it is enemy number one for a driver. But in your spare time, when are you most relaxed? .

Even when I am free from commitments or rehearsals, I always like to be on time and never late.

This season will be your tenth in Formula 1: are you satisfied with the driver you are today?

Yes, I think so. In general I think you can always improve, but right now I am very happy: I didn't expect to win four world titles.

The last one, that of 2024, was very hard-fought. Among those you have won, where does it rank in your personal ranking? .

Very high. As with the other titles, we fought for a long time, experienced more or less exciting moments and in the end we managed to win... That's the beauty of a competition like Formula 1.

The year 2025 is a different season than previous ones for you at Red Bull.

Clearly McLaren is proving to be the team to beat. I am focused not on watching others but on thinking about how to improve my performance and my single-seater. The season will be long and many things can change.

You are 27 years old, but in Formula 1 you are now a veteran. Young drivers used to be the exception, now they are the norm. What do you think?

It is becoming a trend not only in Formula 1, but in all sports. Athletes are now supervised by professional coaches from a very young age and therefore start competing and reaching very high levels early on.

What is the most important quality a Formula 1 driver must possess today?

Always believe in yourself and, of course, have talent.

Driving in Formula 1, it's not for everyone, but it is a bit of a dream for all motorsport enthusiasts. For you, which is a job, what is the best part of driving a single-seater? .

There are two: speed and acceleration. There is nothing in the world that comes close to those in Formula 1.

Do you drive in your spare time?

Not much, at least on normal roads.

And what do you like to do when you are not busy with your work?

Apart from any other activity that has to do with motors and racing, I like to play padel. I enjoy it.

What is true luxury for you?

Spending time with my family and friends when I come home from the races: this is real life.
